Manzanita Bird Perches and Manzanita Bird Stands
We have an abundant supply of manzanita wood that could be used for manzanita bird perches and manzanita bird stands. This dense hardwood grows exclusively along the west coast in the mountains of Baja through Californina and into Oregon. Because it is nontoxic and chew resistant manzanita wood is prized by bird owners. The natural texture of both the wood and bark is easy to clean and a good surface for birds to grip.
Manzanita is a shrub or small tree and very rarely grows straight. Manzanita branches grow into shapes that are great for bird perches. The variable diameters and irregular shapes are good for exercising and keeping the birds feet and leg muscles healthy.
Manzanita branches can be good for simple bird perches to mount in a cage and are also crafted into elaborate bird stands and play gyms. Manzanita tends to branch a lot as it grows and can produce complex branches that in their natural form can make a complex perching and play gym that birds love.
Manzanita wood makes a good material for making bird toys. Birds like the texture to chew on and since it is nontoxic and chew resistant manzanita bird toys are an excellent choice.
