Copper fire pits are an excellent choice for outdoor wood burning fires. Copper has an elegant beauty that can make your fire pit, fireplace or chiminea a centerpiece of your patio or back yard. With a very high melting temperature, durability that doesn’t rust like iron or steel, copper can be the most beautiful as well as the longest lasting of any other popular fire pit material.
A copper fire pit will usually come with a lustrous metallic shine. This will fade over time as the copper begins to develop a layer of oxidation with use and exposure to the elements. This layer is called patina and can be a greenish color. The look of the patina is highly desired by many but with cleaning the original copper can always be restored.
The main disadvantage to copper is it usually costs more. Many people consider it to be worth the extra price because of it’s beauty and durability.
