Building Firewood Rack

Building Firewood Rack – A Simple Firewood Rack Plan

One of the best methods of building firewood rack or storage racks is to use firewood rack brackets. These easy to use brackets allow you to take simple 2×4’s and turn them into an instant sturdy firewood rack. You cut two 2×4’s to the length you want to build your firewood rack and 4 cut to the height you want it. Simply insert the ends into the brackets and secure them with screws or nails and it’s done.

I have seen many firewood rack plan ideas on the internet but this is probably the easiest way to make one that will be this sturdy. 2×4’s are cheap and strong but the problem with using only wood is making the bottom corner strong enough to hold the weight of the sides of the stack.

You can install gussets or cross supports in the bottom corners or tie the uprights on both ends together with a wire, rope, wood or any material strong enough. These things work but keep in mind the gussets can take up stacking space. There are many ways of building firewood racks and one day I will probably describe some here. Ultimately firewood rack brackets are the easiest and most versatile.
